The goal of the ESEM Emergency Department Administration Special Interest Group is to develop defined pathways for Emergency Physicians to act as healthcare executives by providing an experiential foundation in the administrative, business and operational aspects of Emergency Medicine.
This encompasses understanding methods of business assessment and process improvement. Financial and operational planning of both academic and community-based Emergency Medicine departments. Experience operations and administratively based research in Emergency Medicine. Demonstrate ability to adequately communicate financial and operational information to others. Proficiency in monitoring key performance indicators. Translate hospital and department business strategies into clear objectives and tactics for multidisciplinary workgroups. Hone project management and data analysis skills. Enhance budgetary and financial knowledge.
ESEM with its rich pool of senior emergency physicians will aim to create a comprehensive framework for both aspiring and senior emergency physicians to work in senior leadership roles in addition to their clinical responsibilities.
